Dr Enrique Acebo is an Assistant Professor in Management at the University of León's Department of Management and Business Economics. His research focuses on eco-innovation, the twin transition (green and digital), and the new space economy. He combines causal inference techniques and econometric analysis to explore how firms drive sustainable development and adapt to technological transformation.
Enrique’s research has been published in respected journals such as Industry and Innovation, Science and Public Policy, European Journal of Innovation Management, and Business Strategy and the Environment. He has successfully secured funding for several research projects, notably those investigating business ecosystems and sustainable innovation, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Additionally, he collaborates on industry-focused initiatives such as the IRPAS (Inflatable Remotely Piloted Airship) project, which addresses innovation challenges in the aerospace sector and explores cutting-edge technological applications.
He earned his PhD in Business Economics with Summa Cum Laude and an International Mention from the University of León in 2022. Enrique has gained extensive international experience, including a Miguel Dols Fellowship at the Cañada Blanch Centre at the London School of Economics (2023) and a research stay at the Copenhagen Business School’s Department of Strategy and Innovation (2022). He also participated in the Frontiers of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme, organised by Fundación Rafael del Pino in collaboration with MIT.
Enrique has presented his work at leading conferences such as DRUID, ACEDE, and R&D Management. He is the Research Coordinator for the ACEDE Operations and Technology Division and serves as the Social Media Editor for Industry and Innovation. He regularly peer-reviews for journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Science and Public Policy, and Business Research Quarterly.
He teaches courses in operations management and innovation management, along with specialised topics in aerospace and business management programmes. He also conducts workshops on causal inference methodologies, such as Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), to promote rigorous research practices.
