Presented at: R&D Management Conference 2023

Overview

This research project investigates how different types of government support affect innovative start-ups, with a particular focus on comparing the effects on supply chain integration versus local economic development.

Research Questions

The project addresses several key questions:

  • How do different government support mechanisms impact start-up innovation outcomes?
  • What are the differential effects on supply chain integration versus local economy spillovers?
  • How do firm characteristics moderate the effectiveness of government support?

Methodology

We employ causal inference techniques and econometric analysis to examine the heterogeneous effects of government support programs on innovative start-ups, controlling for selection bias and confounding factors.

Current Status

The paper is currently under review at a peer-reviewed journal. Preliminary findings were presented at the R&D Management Conference 2023.
